Lord Ullin’ Daughter
Posted on May 6th, 2009 at 6:47 am by and

Right now, in my English class, we are reading this ballad called ”Lord Ullin’s Daughter.” We read that ballad by changing our voice, for example: tones, pitch, pace, etc. This ballad is from Scotland. When I was reading this ballad, I was trying my best to use the british accent, because this ballad is from Scotland.

DEATH NOTE L CHANGE THE WORLD

People who likes this movie called ”L Change The World(DEATH NOTE)” please tell me!! Because I really want to discuss about it. Those of you who doesn’t know about this movie, I would like to explain a bit about it. There are three stories and I watched the last one which is called ”L CHANGE THE WORLD”.

So, this story is about one notebook which can kill people, but in this movie, this person named L burns the notebook, because he is sick and tired of it. Well, but I think I don’t want to tell more, because then you wouldn’t want to watch this movie.

This movie is a Japanese movie. I recommend this movie for those of you who loves scary movies. Maybe you woulsdn’t be scared of this move if you watches scary movies really often.

Well, I am looking forward for discussing it. :)

English Class

Right now in my English class, we are learning about Poems, Limericks and ballads. What we do in English class is that we  make a recipe for limericks and ballads. The recipe is not a recipe for foods, it’s about what actually is a limerick and ballads. I really like this topic, because it’s really enjoyable and fun to make those and make limericks. I like limericks better than ballads, because I think ballads are a bit too serious and realistic, but limericks are funny and unrealistic.

Why don’t you try to make or read some limericks?

What I am reading…
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 at 7:38 am by and

Right now, I am reading two books at the same time, so it’s a challenge for me. Title of the books are:

Lemonade War and Ida B.

Actually, I am not reading at the same time, because I am reading Lemonade War and I just read the first page of Ida B. Lemonade War is a sakura medal book, but Ida B is not a sakura medal book.

If I finish Lemonade War, I will be reading Ida B, and then comment on Lemonade War and Ida B.

Thank you.

The House On Mango Street

I’ve been reading this book for almost four weeks with my class. This story is about this girl who lives in Mexico. Her name is Esperanza. The story is devided into many vignettes and in each vignette, there are a lot of figurative languages. There are a lot of characters in the story. My favorite vignette in this story is called “The Family Of Little Feet” and there are lots of figurative languages. I will give one example about figurative language from this vignette. “The grandma’s feet were lovely as pink pearls and dressed in velvety high heels that made her walk with a wobble, but she wore them anyway because they were pretty.” I really like this figurative language, because it really describes the grandma’s feet and it sounds nice where it says “Pink pearls”, because it really sounds beautiful. The reason why I like this vignette is that I like the part where three kids were walking on the street with their high heels on.

I have connections with Esperanza and I, because Esperanza has her own religion(Catholic) and I also have my own religion(Muslim).

I recommend this book to the people who likes reading about other people’s cultures and who likes funny languages. I enjoyed reading this book with my class. Also, there are also plot and theme in this book. My favorite character is Sally, because the author introduced and described Sally really well. Sally is really cute and wear her gorgeous makeups on. But her father doesn’t like it.

Well, if you want to know more about this story, check it out and read it!

SCHOOLED

This book is the one the sakura medal books, and this book is my 3rd book for voting the authors. First, I found this in the library. I was curious about this story and I thought I would enjoy it, so I borrowed it and started to read in that day. In this book, there are characters, settings, plot and characterization. Also, there was a plot development. I think the climax of this story was when Capricorn Anderson, the main character of this story (people call him Cap) drove the bus and when the school bus driver got injured. I really like Cap’s thoughts, braveness and his warmed heart. I recommend this book to the people who likes reading books about friendships and about Cap’s weird school life. Please go to the sakura medal books website to check the books.

Two Weeks At The Queen

When I was reading this book, I felt exactly the thing what Colin was feeling. When he went to the world’s best doctor, the doctor got really mad at him, because the doctor didn’t have any time to cure Luke. That time, Colin was really disappointed, and I also shouted at the doctor and got disappointed in my heart. I was happy when Colin saw Luke. I found funny when the business guy sat next to Colin when they were at the airplane. I REALLY recommend this play to everyone, but there is a book about this story, which I am going to read someday.

SAKURA MEDAL BOOKS
Posted on January 16th, 2009 at 7:13 pm by and

I read two books called ”THE LONDON EYE MYSTERY and ”Rickshaw Girl” for my SAKURA MEDAL BOOKS VOTING. Both of the books I read was great and I really recommend this book ”Rickshaw Girl” to everyone, because this book is about a girl from Bangladeshi village and this story is about Bengali culture. People who are interested in other cultures, I recommend this book to you.

For ”THE LONDON EYE MYSTERY”, it was kind of weird to read, but I recommend this book for the people in MIDDLE SCHOOL, because it’s not hard and it’s not that easy. I didn’t really like reading last year, but I started to read books from this year, and I really enjoyed reading this book. I also recommend this book to you.

Right now, I am reading this called ”SCHOOLED” and I am sure that I will enjoy this book like the other two I read. I would like to introduce more books and maybe films I watched before.

Journey to Jo’burg
Posted on December 11th, 2008 at 7:03 pm by and

I read a book called “Journey to Jo’burg” in my english class. The arthur of this book is Beverly Naidoo. This book is about a girl and a boy who is trying to save their little sister. Girl’s name is Naledi and the boy’s is Tiro. And their little sister’s name is Dineo. This book is book is really exciting to read, but it is also really a sad story. But the end is really nice. So, what happened is was that their Mother named Mma were working at Johannesburg to get money. So it tells you that this family is a really poor family..And their dad named Rra died at the gold mine when he was working, because of the gas there. Naledi and Tiro lives with their grandmother Nono, their aunt Mangwane, and their little sister Dineo. Their little sister Dineo is sick, so they planned to go to Johannesburg to meet their Mma. I think Naledi and Tiro is a really lucky traveler, because from their village they live and to Johannesburg, it takes about three hundred kilometers. So it is impossible for them to get there fast, so what happened is that one of the lorry drivers found Naledi and Tiro walking, so he took them to the Johannesburg. When they reached at Johannesburg, they thanked the driver and went on the bus to go to the Mma’s place. When they went on the bus, the bus driver and the people inside the bus suddenly screamed at Naledi and Tiro. So I am sure that it will show you that it is all about apartheid. I f you don’t know what does it mean, I would like to explain it for you. So, apartheid means when the white people separates the non-white people and let them live in other places where they can’ t see. That time, it was going on every where in that country, South Africa. What does apartheid EXACTLY means is “being apart” or “separation.” So when the people on the bus screamed at them, a girl a bit older than Naledi came to them and said “Come here, I will explain what is going on for you guys.”

Her name is Grace and her skin is black like Naledi and Tiro. Grace taught Naledi and Tiro that these people were telling you guys to get out of this bus and to go on the black people’s bus. So, Naledi, Tiro and Grace went on the non-white people’s bus which there is only black skinned people.

Whe Nledi and Tiro thanked Grace, they decided to meet together at 7 AM tomorrow. When Naledi and Tiro saw their Mma, they saw where Mma works and there was a really mean woman named Madam. She lives in this house where Mma works and she tells every single thing to Mma what she has to do and can’t do.

Mma, begged to Madam that her daughter is sick, so can I please go back to my house, then Madam said that you have to complete your work, or else you can’t go.

So Naledi and Tiro slept with Grace  tonight. Next morning, Naledi,Tiro and Grace waited for Mma to come. When Mma came, Naledi, Tiro and Mma thanked Grace and went back to the village. When they went back, they quickly took Dineo to the hospital. The doctor said that Dineo is Malnutrition, so she needs to get more food so that she won’t die.

That night, they left Dineo to the hospital, because the doctor needs to fix Dineo. Next day, Dineo was okay and feeling better.

When Naledi was about to sleep, she was thinking how she should make the better place for everyone. She decided to be a doctor, so that she can help everyone to live peacefully. When Naledi goes to her school, she is going to tell everything she saw during the journey to the older students at school and let them know everything about it. I am sure that Naledi had a great experience. I recommend this book to everyone, because it is really easy to read and you will know about what Naledi observed. I really enjoyed reading this book.
